Guns made to kill with high efficiency
There is one thing gun lovers won't understand. It is very simple. The word that sums it up is: Technology.
Guns are a very efficient technology for killing. They have no other purpose. They enable people with every sort of ancillary problem to act on their problems with unprecedented efficiency.
You can go on and on ad nauseam about mental health, drugs, depression, revenge, etc. But when push comes to shove, if there were no guns on this planet (and I mean all guns ) military, civilian -- all) how would they respond to their dilemma?
Suffer it out, beat somebody with their fists, lash out with a knife? They certainly wouldn't have almost instantaneously killed five people with a knife.
The gun technology enables a higher body count. There is no rationale that makes any sense but ridding the world of this mechanical virus.
The Second Amendment doesn't mean anything. People's lives are what counts. We can always write new amendments. We can't write new lives.
Now, once we are cured of this virus, we can address with more clarity these human problems that give rise to violence and despair. There is nothing positive guns can contribute to this resolution. nothing.
