Goudie off base in defense of Obama
Chuck Goudie's column March 24 "critics off base with the Obama Commandment" defended Obama's choice to stand by Rev. Wright and remain in his church.
He defined the Obama Commandment as "requiring that you immediately leave your church and never return when your pastor says something outrageous."
Then he went on to equate Obama's situation to Catholics and our struggle to disconnect our faith from pedophile priests.
He stated that "on Easter morning, Chicago churches would have been as empty as Christ's tomb if everyone were expected to live by the OC."
I don't know of any Catholic that would support, defend of attend a church for one week, let alone 20 years, if their priest was a known pedophile.
Catholics did not know what these rapist priests were doing as we listened to them with our children in the pews and in the schools.
If we couldn't get rid of the offending priest, then I would definitely find another church. Obama chose to stay and listen to Wright's bigoted and un-American rants. I still believe he should have left that church as it has seemingly affected his wife's opinion of this country and what about his two daughters?
Obama had a choice and I personally believe it was the wrong one. I was told long ago that we are judged by the company we keep and who we choose as friends.
To me, Obama has been involved in Chicago politics long enough to be just another one, in our long line of questionable Illinois politicians, with bad judgment.
