The briefs: Salmonella warning
Salmonella warning
The Kane County Health Department is warning residents of a salmonella threat from cantaloupes. Fruit from the Honduran growers Agropecuaria Montelibano appears to be associated with a salmonella litchfield outbreak, according to the department. Cases have been identified in Illinois, but not in Kane County. Anyone who has recently eaten cantaloupe and experienced the symptoms of salmonella -- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps -- should contact their doctor. The health department recommends anyone who has recently bought the fruit check with their grocer to see where it came from.
