Police search for burglar

Naperville police said Tuesday they are searching for a man who smashed a vehicle window and stole a GPS unit Monday morning. The vehicle was parked in front of Payless Shoe Source, 256 S. Route 59, between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. A witness said the offender was wearing a red sweater and left the scene in an unknown vehicle heading north on Route 59. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Callers to (630) 420-6006 may remain anonymous.

Recall affects Super H Mart

A Naperville grocery store specializing in Asian food products is affected by a recall of Hanaro-brand Mini Sized Sweet Rice Dumpling Skins due to possible wheat gluten contamination, the state's public health department announced. The contamination may cause people with celiac disease to become ill since they can't tolerate gluten. The product does not list gluten as an ingredient. So far, two people in Illinois have become sick and the stores have pulled the product. Only 256 packages were manufactured and all but 31 of the packages have been recovered. The tainted products have an expiration date of Aug. 9 or Sept. 9 printed in blue ink on the side of the eight-ounce plastic package.

Park district goes green

Naperville Park District's South Maintenance Facility on the grounds of Frontier Sports Complex recently received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. It is the first building in Naperville to do so. The park district received a "silver" rating for innovations that reduce energy needs, increase healthy indoor air quality, recycle waste, use recycled materials and use landscaping that needs little water or pesticide application. A grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation helped achieve LEED certification.
