The briefs: Hospice honors volunteers

Hospice of Northeast Illinois recently presented numerous awards to area residents who've made a difference in the community. Barrington resident and Barrington Area Unit District 220 school board member Sam Oliver received the President's Award. It honors people who've demonstrated outstanding service, dedication and leadership. At Hospice, Oliver has served on the Foundation Executive Committee, is current co-chair of the Leadership Development-Nominating Committee and is a part of the Annual Giving, Special Events and Friends of Hospice committees. Barrington resident Bob Lee, who rode his bike across the country last summer to raise money for, among other things, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, was awarded the Hospice Award of Excellence for his dedication and commitment to making a difference in the arena of hospice care on a national level. Hospice of Northeastern Illinois is a community-based nonprofit serving families throughout McHenry, Lake, Northwest Cook, Kane, Boone, and DuPage counties.
