Man accused of robbery try in Elgin

A 22-year-old Des Plaines man remains in custody at the Kane County jail after he tried to rob two men at 10:30 p.m. Friday near the Grand Victoria Casino, according to police reports.

Brock Kenneth Kline of 421 Cambridge was charged with aggravated assault and appeared at a bond hearing Sunday.

Kline, armed with a knife, approached two men in their early to mid-20s on the 200 block of South Grove Avenue and demanded money, police said.

But police say the men, one from Elgin and one from Yorkville, didn't take Kline seriously. They walked away and then called police, who picked him up nearby.

The two identified Kline, who was held for two nights in the Elgin lockup.

His bond was set $750, pending another court date.
