Chicago man charged for allegedly setting girlfriend ablaze

A 21-year-old Chicago man has been charged after allegedly dousing his girlfriend with lighter fluid and setting her on fire.

The girlfriend had extensive burns on her face and body after the January 15th incident and was in a coma until earlier this week. That's when the 18-year-old told authorities Damenique Traylor set her ablaze.

Traylor is charged with heinous battery.

Authorities say Traylor and his girlfriend got into an argument, which sparked Traylor's alleged actions. They say Traylor told hospital officials she was injured in an accident with a barbecue grill.

A judge set Traylor's bond at $3 million on Tuesday. If convicted he faces up to 30 years in prison.
