Truck crash closes Route 41
A 53-foot semi truck hauling 41,000 pounds of brake castings crashed on Route 41 just south of Washington Street in Park City, blocking area traffic for over five hours Monday.
Gurnee fire officials were called to the scene of the crash around 3:45 p.m. on Route 41 just south of Washington Street, Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief Barry Henby said.
The driver of the semi truck -- which landed on its passenger side -- refused medical treatment at the scene.
A tow company called to the scene worked for hours to unload the trailer's brake casting haul so that two tow trucks could upright the fallen semi, Henby said.
Route 41 opened to traffic after 9 p.m., he said.
Park City police are investigating the crash.
