'The Producers' comes to ECC stage Sunday
For one night only, Elgin Community College will host "The Producers," a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical comedy currently on a national tour.
The performance will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the center's Blizzard Theatre, located at ECC's main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Tickets are $64 and $60.
Based on Mel Brooks' Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name, "The Producers" is the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together they hatch the ultimate scam: Raise more money than needed for a sure-fire Broadway flop and pocket the difference.
The musical, also written by Brooks, swept the 2001 Tony Awards, receiving the most awards in Broadway history.
Tickets are now available online at www.elgin.edu/arts or at the ECC box office located in the Arts Center. Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
