Man accused of robbing gas station
A 37-year-old St. Charles man was in jail Monday on charges of robbing a local gas station at knifepoint.
Ronald L. Medlin is accused of stealing several cartons of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash from a Shell station, 2500 E. Main St., about 11:42 p.m. Sunday, police said. No one was hurt.
According to police, Medlin wielded a knife as he robbed a clerk, then fled the scene. No customers were present.
Surveillance footage showing a green Chevrolet pickup truck leaving the area led detectives to Medlin's last known address, 7N151 Pakan Drive, where he was taken into custody without resistance about 11:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
Medlin is charged with felony armed robbery. He was to be held overnight Monday at the St. Charles Police Department while awaiting bond call today.
