Homes evacuated in Aurora

About 200 people were evacuated from their residences after a gas leak in Aurora Monday afternoon. Residents of the 70-unit 430 N. River St. building were evacuated around 2 p.m., after building contractors hit an unmarked gas line, Aurora fire officials said.

Residents living on the east side of the 111 W. Park building were moved to the other side of that building as a precaution, but not asked to leave.

Residents of 430 N. River St. were taken to Prisco Community Center. One person was given oxygen on the scene but no one was seriously injured or hospitalized, officials said.
