Will rebates really spur economy?
Congress and President Bush are issuing a taxpayers' rebate. This is a hurried program to put money as soon as possible into taxpayers' hands.
The rebate is an economical stimulus to ward off a recession. According to the government, the taxpayer should spend all the rebate money on goods and services. In theory, it will stimulate the economy.
However, you cannot control on how the people will spend the free rebate money. People under financial pressure and extended credit, will likely pay off debts or credit cards.
Time will tell if this rebate will do all it is supposed to do.
