Adult education

Congregational Church of Christ hosts a weekly Lenten study series for adults, at 4:30 p.m. Sunday evenings through March 30. "The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus' Final Days in Jerusalem" by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic provides the framework for study during the series. A new support group, "A Time to Grieve, A Time to Heal," will be forming at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights. It will meet for seven weeks on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:15 p.m. beginning April 7. This support group is for people dealing with losses in their lives. (847) 259-4114, ext. 133.

Children, teens

The 2nd Annual John Camardella Parent/Teen Retreat will be April 26 at Christian Liberty Academy. The retreat is open to all high school-aged teens and their parent(s). The retreat will feature the New Life Church Band (from the University of Michigan). Cost for the retreat is $75 per person. A deposit of $50 per family should be mailed before Thursday, with the balance due by April 15. Space is limited and will be filled first-come, first-served. Scholarships are available. The Sisters of the Living Word are hosting a retreat day for young adult women on April 12 in the Chicago area. This day is intended for any single woman, age 18-40, who wants to experience the spirituality and passion for mission that characterize the Sisters of the Living Word. The retreat will provide guidance in spiritual growth, prayer, and faith sharing, as well as an invitation to greater service of others in need.

There is no fee for this retreat, but advance registration is required. For the upcoming retreat in Arlington Heights, registration is required by April 2.

Performances

St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights, has added two new Sunday church services: a contemporary worship service at 10:45 a.m. in the Activity Center; and a traditional worship service at 11 am. in the sanctuary. (847) 259-4114.

Women's programs

"Building a Spiritual Green Connection" is the topic of Church Women United's April Forum. Linda Sonner, coordinator of the Spiritual Green Connection, will be the speaker. Its mission is to support people of faith who wish to create a "Going Green" campaign in their faith communities. Questions and discussion will follow. The meeting begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Christian Church of Arlington Heights, 333 W. Thomas St. All women are invited and free childcare is provided, but reservations are necessary.
