Fawell moved to halfway house
A longtime aide to former Gov. George Ryan has been moved from a federal prison in South Dakota to a halfway house in Chicago.
Scott Fawell, once considered Ryan's right-hand man, was convicted of racketeering in March 2003 and was sentenced to 6½ years in prison. He later received a four-month sentence reduction after switching sides and testifying against Ryan in the former governor's racketeering trial.
Ryan is serving a 6½-year federal prison sentence in Indiana.
According to the federal Bureau of Prisons, Fawell is scheduled for release in September.
