'Babes' will headline annual Sisters Weekend in St. Charles

Sisters Weekend, St. Charles' annual three-day getaway for women, is about to return -- and at least four "Bitchin' Babes" will be there.

Organizers at the Downtown St. Charles Partnership have booked performers the Four Bitchin' Babes to play a concert as the centerpiece of the fifth annual event, set for April 11 to 13.

The comedic divas, who sold out the Arcada Theatre for Sisters Weekend 2006, return to the venue, 105 E. Main St., on April 12. Tickets are included in the Sisters Weekend registration fee or available separately for $30.

"Tickets are still available," David Richards, executive director of the nonprofit partnership, said Friday. "But people need to act quickly."

Sisters Weekend festivities are put on by the partnership and downtown merchants as a way to boost the downtown economy while giving ladies a chance to be pampered for a few days. It's expected to draw about 400 women, including groups of mothers, siblings and friends.

A $75 registration fee covers the concert tickets as well as spa treatment discounts, breakfast, yoga sessions and admission to a dance workshop, wine-tasting and pajama party. It also comes with several gifts and coupons from downtown.

"It's a heck of a buy," Richards said. "We're just encouraging ladies to take a break and come spend three days in St. Charles. The merchants are rolling out the pink welcome mat."

Registered visitors must pay for their own hotel rooms but Richards said they are offered special packages exclusively for Sisters Weekend, including a four-person deal for $99 at the Pheasant Run Resort.
