73-year-old charged with shooting wife of two months
Authorities have set bond at $500,000 for a 73-year-old man charged with shooting his new wife at in their home on Chicago's South Side.
Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin said the bond was set Friday on charges of aggravated domestic battery and unlawful use of a weapon against Maurice Barnes .
Prosecutors said Barnes shot his wife of two months after a quarrel Wednesday night and reportedly told her, "I should have killed you."
Barnes allegedly fired two shots at his wife; after missing the first time, he shot her in the shoulder, shattering her clavicle and damaging an artery.
The wife, who was also 73, was taken to Christ Medical Center in suburban Oak Lawn in good condition.
