Cubs send Ascanio, Gallagher to Triple-A

MESA, ARIZ. - The Chicago Cubs announced a third round of roster cuts today, reducing the roster from 41 to 38 players.

Right-handed pitchers Jose Ascanio and Sean Gallagher have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. In addition, outfielder Josh Kroeger has been re-assigned to minor league camp.

The Cubs' spring roster of 38 players consists of 19 pitchers (two non-roster invitees), three catchers (one non-roster invitee), 10 infielders (three non-roster invitees) and six outfielders.
