Suburban flood watch begins as towns brace for rain, snow
With sandbags in hand and a wary eye toward the sky, Lake County officials are bracing for storms later this week that could cause flooding.
Lake County emergency management authorities fear forecasted wet, heavy snow could push the Des Plaines River -- already above flood stage -- even higher, and swell the banks of the Fox River and Chain O' Lakes.
The National Weather Service in Chicago on Wednesday issued a winter storm watch for Lake and surrounding counties.
