Arlington Heights newsstand robbed at gunpoint

Arlington Heights police are searching for a man who robbed a newsstand at gunpoint last night.

Just before its 8 p.m. closing time Wednesday, the man walked into Westgate Newsstand at 1535 W. Campbell St. and demanded money, Cmdr. Nick Pecora said.

The one employee in the store at the time told police the robber flashed a black handgun after ordering the worker to hand over cash from the register.

The robber took an undisclosed amount and ran, Pecora said.

No one was injured.

Police said the robber was described as about 6 feet and in his 20s. He spoke with a European accent.
