Brunswick Corp. sells certain Baja assets, closes Ohio boat plant
LAKE FOREST -- Boat maker Brunswick Corp. says it's closing a factory in Bucyrus, Ohio, as it sells certain assets belonging to its Baja boat line.
The plant has 285 employees and will stop production by late May.
The Lake Forest-based company says it's selling certain Baja assets to Fountain Powerboat Industries Incorporated of Washington, North Carolina.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
The Ohio plant will be the seventh boat factory Brunswick has closed or planned to close since 2007 as it realigns its business and cuts boat production.
The company expects to take a $10 million to $15 million pre-tax right down stemming from the Baja plant closure.
Shares rose 82 cents, or 5 percent, to $17.16 in trading Thursday
