School bus driver cited after crash in Libertyville

A school bus driver was ticketed after a crash at Butterfield and Winchester roads in Libertyville at 4:14 p.m. Monday, police said.

Jonathan M. Schultz, 22, of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., was cited after Libertyville police said he ran a stop light and hit a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a Green Oaks woman.

No one was injured in the accident and no children were on the bus at the time. The bus is owned by Liberty School Bus Inc. of Southwest suburban Orland Park, police said. It was not immediately known if the bus was used to transport children from a local school.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Traffic was rerouted for 20 to 25 minutes while police investigated.

Schultz has a court date on April 23 in Mundelein.
