SIU-Carbondale's chancellor put on leave
CARBONDALE -- Southern Illinois University's president says he's placed the chancellor at SIU's flagship campus in Carbondale on administrative leave.
SIU President Glenn Poshard says his move against Fernando Trevino was made after Poshard consulted with the university's board of trustees.
Poshard says he's been made aware of "serious concerns" by campus and community officials about Trevino's job performance. He wouldn't elaborate.
Interim Provost Don Rice will handle daily administrative duties of the chancellor's office until further notice.
Trevino has been SIU's chancellor since last July.
Calls to Trevino's office are being directed to a university spokesman.
