Kids fantasy author to sign novel

The Spring Hill Mall Barnes & Noble will host award-winning author and educator Jan Frazier at 7 p.m. Tuesday, who will be on hand to meet with parents and children and sign copies of her books.

Frazier has written many books, earning a Tommy award from publisher SterlingHouse for excellence in fantasy fiction for "Starlight Laser Express," the first book in her series of children's time-travel fantasy novels featuring teenage heroine J.C. van Winkler.

Frazier also has written teenage murder mysteries, and has an adult autobiography, "When Fear Falls Away: The Story of a Sudden Awakening," in which she recounts a "dramatic [and permanent] falling away of fear."

Frazier has been honored during five consecutive years in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," was a 2004 featured speaker at the Young Author's Convention in Bloomington, Ill., and a featured author at the national BookExpo America convention in Los Angeles in 2003.

Prior to Frazier's book signing, she will be visiting several local elementary schools and presenting educational talks on writing, travel and imagination based on her experiences.
