Family picking up missing 11-year-old in Chicago
MILWAUKEE -- The family of a missing Milwaukee girl found in Chicago plans to travel to Illinois Monday to bring her home.
Eleven-year-old Shontel Jones disappeared Friday and was found in Chicago Saturday. She is in the custody of Cook County child welfare officials.
Her father, Leon Jones, says the family hasn't been able to talk to her yet, despite numerous attempts by phone. He says Cook County officials couldn't be certain that they were family members.
So, they'll take documents to prove her identity to Chicago in order to bring her back to Milwaukee.
It's not yet known how the eleven-year-old got to Chicago or why she disappeared. Members of the family's church, Risen Savior Lutheran, helped authorities search for Shontel.
