The St. Patrick Bereavement Ministry is sponsoring "Grief Journey," a six-session, support program for those who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Sessions are at 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning April 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles. People of all faiths are welcome.

The program includes information on what to expect during the grieving process, and provides the opportunity to share with others.

Orthodox

St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Aurora is hosting its seventh-annual iconography workshop March 30 to April 12 at the church, 720 Rural St. in Aurora. The registration fee is $195, which includes supplies. Beginners are welcome.

The workshop is an introduction to the liturgical art of the Christian East by iconographer Robert Wiesner.

During the two-week workshop, the project will be in process and participants can come on their own time. Every day attendance is not required, but participants must be able to put in at least 30 hours of actual painting time. Morning and evening sessions are available.

Registrants do not have to be parishioners of St. George. Call Father Fredrick Peterson at (630) 851-4002 for information or to register.

St. George is also offering seminars on "A Brief History of the Byzantine Church" by Dr. Amanda Quantz, an assistant professor of history of world Christianity at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. The fee for the sessions is $30 plus duplicating of articles payable at the first session.

The three sessions are "The Apostolic Churches and the Ancient World" from 10 a.m. to noon today; "Popes and Patriarchs: Conflict and Compromise in Byzantine circa 500-1095" from 10 a.m. to noon April 12 and "Culture Wars: From the First Crusade (1095) to the Fall of Constantinople (1453)" from 7 to 9 p.m. May 16. Assembly of God

Sanctuary of Batavia is offering the 10-week Alpha Course from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays. The church is at 1S430 Wenmoth Road (a half block north of Main Street) in Batavia.

Participants will explore the Christian faith in an informal setting. Sessions include a meal, a presentation such as "Who is Jesus?" and a small-group discussion.
