New DVDs this week

"No Country for Old Men"

Javier Bardem portrays a heartless killer who eliminates anyone in his path as he travels across Texas in this Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Director and Best Supporting Actor. Josh Brolin discovers money from a drug deal gone bad and goes on the run, while local sheriff, Tommy Lee Jones, pursues Bardem. The Coen brothers thriller features unexpected twists and turns in a film that mixes violence, drama and off-beat humor. The ensemble cast delivers.

"Bee Movie"

Jerry Seinfeld wrote and leads an all-star voice cast in this excellent animated film that parents and kids alike will enjoy. Bees don't live long, and Barry B. Benson (Seinfeld) does not conform. He takes off from the hive and meets Venessa (Renee Zellweger), who owns a flower shop. When Barry realizes that humans sell honey, he decides to sue them for stealing the bees' honey. It's a funny film with lots of satire that also shows the importance of bees on the planet.

"Dan in Real Life"

Steve Carell stars as an advice columnist who also writes novels and is the single father of three girls. He meets a woman (Juliette Binoche) at a bookstore, and they really hit it off. He is falling for her, but at his family reunion he discovers that she is his brother's new girlfriend. It is awkward for both of them but fun for us to watch.

"Hitman"

Fans of the video game will not be disappointed with the action-packed film. Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) is a trained assassin at the top of his profession. He does whatever it takes to complete his mission and lets nothing stand in his way. The special effects and slow-motion really work. The plot and various storylines take a back seat to the camera work and violence that help define the film.
