Celebrate the BG Singers' 15th year
The BG Singers will celebrate their 15th anniversary at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday with a show titled "I Love That Song!" All the singers were asked to suggest their personal favorite songs, from which an eclectic repertoire of music was selected. Songs to be presented will range from "A Tribute to Queen" to a "Jersey Boys Medley" to Five for Fighting's "100 Years."
Performances will be held at the Stevenson High School Auditorium, One Stevenson Drive, Lincolnshire. There will also be a benefit performance for special needs residents Friday. Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 at the door, and are available at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive in Buffalo Grove.

Earth Hour to be held March 28
From 8 to 9 p.m. March 28, the Chicago area is invited to take part in Earth Hour Chicago. The goal of the event is to demonstrate that by working together, everyone can make a positive impact on global warming. For the one hour, business and residents are encouraged to turn off all nonessential lights in their homes and businesses.
In addition to the Chicago area, the event will also be observed in Phoenix, Atlanta and San Francisco. For information, check out www.earthhour.org.
Hear funny music at spring concert
The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band will hold its seventh annual spring concert, "A Funny Happened on the Way to the Band Concert," at 7 p.m. April 26 at Stevenson High School's Performing Arts Center. Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $8 at all times for seniors and students with ID. Tickets will be on sale at the village starting April 1.
The band will perform a number of pieces including "Comedy Tonight"; Beethoven's Fifth Symphony as performed as a sportscast; the "Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds" by PDQ Bach; "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks" by Strauss; "Dance of the Comedians" featuring Marimba soloist Dawn Karis; Weber's "Hungarian Rondo" for Bassoon, featuring the Band's principal bassoonist, Joanne Goluszka; as well as numerous other funny and not-so-funny pieces.
