Lions Club rose will brighten days for many
"Brighten Someone's Day" is the theme for the Elgin Lions Club's 24th annual Rose Day.
Elgin Lions Club members will be selling one dozen long-stemmed roses for $15 between now and March 13, for delivery March 19-21.
This major fundraising event began in 1984, and was so well-received that it is now an annual affair. It's a nice way to express your appreciation to a spouse, secretary, co-worker and/or special friend and help the Elgin Lions Eye Care Program, "Brighten Someone's Day," the club says.
The roses are flown here shortly before they are to be delivered directly to the recipients in Elgin, South Elgin, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, Carpentersville and Elgin Area School District U-46 schools by Lion Club members or other people eager to help out the less fortunate in the community.
To place an order, call (847) 289-4206 and leave your name and telephone number a Lions Club member will contact you to get delivery details and arrange for payment.
Proceeds of the sale will be used to continue the charitable works of the Elgin Lions Club, which provides eye care for Elgin elementary school students and people in the community who need it but have difficulty affording it. Nearly all of the money collected by the various fund raisers conducted by the Elgin Lions Club remains in the Elgin area for the benefit of local children and the elderly. For information, call Bruce Williamson, Rose Day chairman, at (847) 931-0017.
