People refuse to see result of own choices
I am amazed at the explosive buzz words used by some of your readers in describing what they see as a faltering economy and an abusive government they see as the source of all our tribulations.
When I read that our troops are in Iraq for the sake of "increasing the profits of war-mongers and oil barons" I get lost in those words.
Oil barons. Sounds good and strong and makes us think of fat, rich men with big cigars in their mouths making fun of the citizens while depositing sacks of money in the bank. That blinds us because we are incapable of thinking of the free market.
On the other hand, we let the environmentalists and the liberals convince us that the caribou's love life in Alaska is more important than keeping the country running at lower oil prices.
Our government has no control of the price of oil. And people don't want to believe it because we are all victims of something.
That "our security has been seriously jeopardized" is another big fat lie dressed up as truth that sounds good, too. We haven't had a single terrorist attack in seven years, and dozens of attacks have been thwarted because the Bush administration has been diligent in defending the country.
We want to be protected by the government but the liberals want the government to treat the terrorists as we are supposed to treat American citizens.
Another big statement is that "our economy is faltering." If the house market is faltering it is because of the naivete of buyers who didn't read the small print, but they wanted the big house anyway and now we all have to pay for it.
It is the easy way out, because we never recognize our mistakes and it is our liberal duty to blame Bush.
Change? We are in the process of changing the government with the elections in November. If we elect a socialist president, and Barack and Hillary are both socialists, they will direct a re-distribution of wealth (not theirs, though) and other scary propositions, but we are all supposed to be happy ever after.
Everybody will be the same -- poor, and unhappy.
