Take away killers' 15 minutes of fame

Well it happened again. For a little while, I thought it wouldn't, but I should have known better.

The day after the shooting at NIU, a TV newscaster said they were withholding the name of the person responsible. The very next day his name and picture were all over the newspapers and TV.

In one of the papers was an image of two students, one from Virginia Tech, another from NIU. The caption was simply "why?"

I can tell you why. These sick minds look upon this as their moment of fame.

Every time something like this happens, there is the inevitable cry for more gun control. Instead of looking at the Second Amendment we should be looking at the First, or at least urge the media to exercise some restraint.

When these sick people see that their actions won't get them the notoriety they desire, with their picture on the 10 o'clock news, they may have some second thoughts.

Gun control is not the answer. Depriving these nuts of their 15 minutes of fame is.
