Huge expenditure for a very short term

Having voted in the 14th District primary, I was made aware of how much tax money was being spent for an absentee vote. I first called the village hall. They instructed me to call the county to request the ballot. People there said I had to visit village hall when the voting wagon would be at our location.

Two or three people were present to run the election. Since I was there about 1:30, they said only about 20 people had voted.

Hastert's early departure caused an interesting development in the primary, as one needed to vote twice, once in the regular primary and then again in a special primary. I am sure that many voters did not understand .

Now we have Jim Oberweis and Bill Foster running for the shortened term. I would guess that with TV ads every hour to date, they will have spent a fortune on this short term, and be set to go through it all again before November.

Both are attempting to get the presidential candidates to pop in to show support, all for a shortened term.

And to think they are debating taxes, health care, the economy, the Middle East and immigration. Do either of them think they will have any actual input on these issues?
