"The Band's Visit"

This gentle culture-clash comedy won eight Israeli Film Academy Awards. When an Egyptian police band gets lost on the way to inaugurate an Arab Cultural Center, it ends up stranded in a remote Israeli town where residents reluctantly put them up for the night.

Through March 13 at the Century Centre in Chicago and the Renaissance Place in Highland Park.

"Romantic" world premiere!

The world premiere of Chicago filmmaker Richard Paro's independent feature "Mass Romantic" was shot in a quick 11 days during a hot Chicago summer. It features 40 area actors and music from 13 indie bands. The story centers around what activists, teachers and artists do when their passion starts to wane. $15. Go to www.mudgeonsoul.org.

"Girls Rock!"
