Wood smoke ban about self-interest

I couldn't agree more with Valerie Ivanoff's Fence Post letter stating Kenneth Dubinski's proposal to mandate gas fireplaces to replace wood burning ones is dictatorial and not worthy of front page status.

Why is it that so many people now think that because they have an allergy, all of us must alter our lifestyles because of their problems?

Some of our neighbors would like it if we all stopped burning leaves, too. When does this self-serving attitude ever end?

It comes down to the fact that now it's "all about me" so the majority has to bend to the minority.

My gas bill was astronomical at $340 this month, so I agree with Valerie. People like Mr. Dubinski should take a step back and mind their own business. I'm sure he does many things which annoy his neighbors as well, but they, unlike him, find ways to cope.
