NAFTA criticism based on falsehood

After listening to senators Clinton and Obama argue the evils of NAFTA, I am appalled.

They argue that all our jobs are being lost to China due to NAFTA.

NAFTA had absolutely nothing to do with China. North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was set up and agreed to by Mexico, Canada and the United States to minimize costs between countries by avoiding duties and more importantly creating jobs both in Mexico and the U.S.

By doing so, it minimized the problem of illegal immigration as well.

In this regard, it has worked. I am not a big Bill Clinton fan, but frankly this was one of his best decisions.

What appalls me is not that senators Clinton and Obama pretend like that isn't the case, but that the media and the debate moderators either don't know it or are so aligned with them they don't bother to bring it up.

Has journalism taken such a hard left that simple facts don't get responded to?

We can agree or disagree about ways to deal with China's trade imbalance and why we are losing jobs there. Quality, currency and others all come to mind, but to blame NAFTA for problems with China is more than just disingenuous. It's a bold face lie propped up by those who know better.
