Time to sign up for preschool program
On Saturday, Hampshire Park District residents may register for Hampshire Park District's Little People Playtime Preschool program.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the preschool, 441 E. Jefferson Ave. Registration information may be picked up before that date at the preschool facility if it was not received in the mail. Birth certificate, proof of residency, and $55 registration fee are required to complete the registration process.
March 15 is open registration for nonresidents. Registration is continuous throughout the summer and school year. Early registration is encouraged in order to plan for fall. For details, call (224) 217-4449.
Join teachers at St. Baldrick's event
There will be a fundraiser to support childhood cancer research from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at The South Elgin Clubhouse, 456 Redington Drive in South Elgin.
It is a St. Baldrick's event where some participants will have their heads shaved for cash.
Paige Stibgen died of acute myeloid leukemia on Nov 7, 2007. Her former teachers from Corron Elementary School in South Elgin are shaving their heads to honor Paige.
Fourth-grade teacher Kristy Dihel and fifth-grade teachers Christy Cordt and Erik Robinson all have a goal to raise $2,500 each for research. For details, visit www.stbaldricks.org/kids/kid_info.html?KidID=1016.
Get in your order for annual tree sale
The Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for their annual Conservation Tree Sale.
The sale includes various evergreen and deciduous bare root trees and shrubs; Prices range from $9.50 to $60, depending on the species.
Ordering deadline for trees and shrubs is March 21. The trees and shrubs will be distributed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 23 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, off Randall Road in St. Charles.
