Gunmen rob Elgin currency exchange

Armed men robbed an Elgin currency exchange at 10:30 this morning, police said.

Several men armed with handguns entered the exchange, 815 St. Charles St., and demanded money. Police said they fled out the back door with an unknown amount of money.

No one was injured.

Officers still are interviewing witnesses, an Elgin police spokesman said.

At least one person who police said might have been involved in the robbery was located around Villa and Liberty streets and was being questioned.
