• Meredith A. Mammarella, daughter of Ronald and Lorrie Mammarella of Palatine, received the Alexander Briggs Memorial Award given to a business major who has completed at least one year of college work with no less than a 3.0 grade point average. Recipients are selected by the management faculty in the School of Business at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. Mammarella is a 2005 graduate of William Fremd High School.

• Anthony A. Gagliano, son of Peter and Laura Gagliano of South Barrington and a spring 2007 graduate with a bachelor's degree in business from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, received the Management Merit Senior Award which is given to a senior selected by the management faculty of the School of Business. Gagliano is a 2003 graduate of Loyola Academy in Wilmette.

• Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, announced the following students received bachelor's degrees Aug. 11 at the end of the summer session.

Barrington Hills: Scott Richard Weber, accountancy.

Palatine: Christine E. Karkosch, German language and literature; and Ann M. Zimmerman, nursing.

• Northern Illinois University in DeKalb awarded master's degrees to the following students Aug. 11 at the end of the summer session.

Palatine: Charles Edward Ayers, College of Business, business administration; Marco Angelo Gusella, College of Business, accounting science; Katrina Roloff, College of Education; and Nicole Kristen Winikates, College of Business, business administration.

• Jeremy Voigt, Inverness, and Brandon Lewin and Daniel Stout of Palatine, all students at Purdue University, were selected for membership in the 2007 Purdue "All-American" Marching Band.

• DePaul University has named the following students to the dean's list for the 2007 autumn quarter.

• James Edward Thabuteau of Palatine graduated Dec. 15 with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.

• Grace Heiderman, daughter of Julie Heiderman of Inverness, attended Beloit College Center for Language Studies in Beloit, Wis., last summer. She studied Arabic at the intensive language institute.

• Bradley University in Peoria announced the following students received bachelor's degrees at the May 19 commencement ceremonies.

Barrington: Lindsey Anne Olmon, magna cum laude; and Blanka Roguljic, cum laude.

Palatine: Lauren Michelle Greene, summa cum laude; and Jacob R. Livingston.

To achieve summa cum laude honors, a student must achieve a 3.8 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale. For magna cum laude honors, a 3.6 or better grade point average must be achieved; and students with cum laude honors must achieve a 3.4 or better grade point average.

• Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., named the following local students to the fall 2007 Dean's List.

Barrington: Dillon Boyer, business administration; Christopher Burrell, political science; Angelica Cyrulik, speech pathology and audiology; and Maureen Hopkins, marketing.

• James Edward Thabuteau of Palatine graduated Dec. 15 with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.

• Therese Meghan Gerbich of North Barrington, a student majoring in chemistry at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., was named to the fall 2007 Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs' List. To qualify, students must attain a semester 3.50 to 3.99 grade point average.

• Rachel Flamm, daughter of Matthew Flamm and Elizabeth Flamm of Palatine, graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in music from Carleton College Northfield, Minn., at the June 9 commencement exercises.

• John P. O'Laughlin of Barrington, a biology major at Colby-Sawyer College, New London, N.H., was named to the 2007 spring dean's list for academic achievement during the 2007 spring semester. To qualify, he achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

• Kristopher Von Sydow of Palatine received a bachelor's degree in hotel management from the Hospitality College of Johnson & Wales University's North Miami Campus.

• Lindsay Bentivegna, daughter of William and Carol Bentivegna of Palatine, made the Dean's List and the Honor Roll in her third term of study at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich. She is a graduate of Indiana University and Palatine High School.

• Ashley Albrecht daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Albrecht of Barrington, was named to the Dean's list for four semesters at the University of Illinois. Albrecht is a James Scholar junior with a dual major in English and psychology. She was the finale chairperson for the Mom's Day Sing, sponsored by the Atius Sachem Leadership Honorary Society, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, was inducted into the Undergraduate Psychology Association (UPA) last spring, elected to the Executive Board as publicity and recruitment chair for the Psi Chi National Psychology Honors Society, and joined the national leadership and honors organization, Sigma Alpha Lambda.
