Baseball
Coaching clinic: The Sports Academy-Northwest Multi-Sport Facility, 355 Hastings Drive, Buffalo Grove, will host a free professionally directed training program from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday for volunteer baseball coaches. The clinic will help coaches learn the latest methods to develop fundamentally sound players and teams.
The workshop will be led by speaker and baseball consultant Peter Caliendo, technical director of TSA Baseball.

Players' clinic: A Winter Baseball Clinic presented by varsity baseball coach Fred Colon and his staff will be held Sunday at Round Lake High School for players to get a head start with hitting, pitching and fundamentals. The clinic runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. for third through fifth grade and 2 to 3:30 p.m. for sixth to eighth grade. The cost is $15 per player. For information, call (847) 270-9000, ext. 5435.
Vintage team: Anyone may join the 2008 Chicago Salmon vintage baseball team either as a player or a "crank."
Players range from 18 to 59, and play according to the rules of 1858. The team plays without baseball mitts, using a 9½-inch "lemon peel" style baseball. There is no stealing and other differences from the modern game.
This year the Chicago Salmon will play approximately 27 games.

Hockey
Adult league: The Kenosha Adult Hockey Club, an adult no-check league, is open to teams and individual players who would like to participate in men's and women's summer hockey leagues. KAHC is a USA Hockey-affiliated league for players 18 and older. The summer league offers a 12-game schedule with all games on Sundays (except Mother's Day, Memorial Day weekend, and Independence Day weekend).
In addition to men's elite, competitive and recreational divisions, KAHC is offering a separate women's league for the first time. A two referee system is used, and all officials are USA Hockey certified. Summer play begins April 27 and continues through Aug. 3. Discounts for early payment of ice fees are available.
