Civil War Ball planned
The Farnsworth Mansion Foundation will have its 8th Annual Civil War Ball at 5 p.m. March 15 at Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St. Charles. The fundraiser includes a buffet dinner, period music and dance instruction. Period attire is welcomed but not required. Advance tickets are $20 a person, $30 a couple and $1 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets purchased at the door will each cost an additional $5. Proceeds fund the rebuilding of Farnsworth Mansion, along Route 25 in St. Charles, as a Civil War museum. Call (630) 587-1530.
School garden fundraiser
Personalized bricks are now for sale to help fund a garden at Lincoln Elementary in St. Charles. Orders will be accepted through March 21. The garden will be used by students and teachers as a quiet place to read or write. It will be landscaped and have tables, chairs and a gated enclosure. Engraved 4-by-8 inch bricks are available for $50. Inscriptions can be three lines with 13 characters each. Order forms are available at the school, 211 S. Sixth Ave.; Blue Goose Super Market, 164 S. Files to be destroyed
The temporary file for all members of the 2002 class of Geneva High School will be destroyed during the week of March 24. According to Illinois law, a student's record belongs exclusively to the student upon his or her 18th birthday. Students can pick up their file in person at the counseling office with an I.D. or provide their parent with written permission and a photocopy of an I.D. East photos on exhibit:
An exhibit of black-and-white photos by St. Charles East High School students is on display at Holiday Camera, 221 W. State St., Geneva. The exhibit is expected to run for several months. Viewing is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call (630) 232-7742 for more information.
