School hosts bingo night Saturday
Hampshire Elementary School is sponsoring a Bingo Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Hampshire High School gym, 560 S. State, Hampshire. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. This family bingo night is open to the community, and there are prizes for all ages. Special guest speakers will announce during bingo. They will have again this year baskets open for auction starting at $1.
This event raised more than $6,000 last year for the school. All proceeds from bingo go directly to the school for the children. Prizes include flat screen TV, digital camera, portable DVD player, 4GB MP3 player, Chicago Bears tickets, Chicago Bears autographed football, gift certificates from local retailers, horseback riding lessons, Kane County Cougar tickets, golf packages and more. Learn about tombstone symbols
The Elgin Genealogical Society will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the first-floor meeting room at the Gail Borden Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

Lions club hosts monthly dinner
The Elgin Lions Club will have its monthly dinner meeting at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Elgin Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road.
The guest speakers will be Stephanie Walsh and Sylvia Garcia from Easter Seals DuPage and Fox Valley Region. They will be giving an update of the services that the Jayne Shover Center offers and upcoming events. Non-members are welcome. The cost is $15 per person and includes a three-course potluck dinner.
