SUV hits squad car

A 26-year-old Chicago man has been charged with driving under the influence after officers say he crashed his sport utility vehicle head-on into a marked police car.

Police say Ramiro Salgado had open liquor in his SUV when he hit the squad car about 10 p.m. Friday on the city's South Side.

Officials say one police officer was hospitalized after the accident, and Salgado was uninjured.

Salgado has been charged with having open liquor in his vehicle, aggravated DUI, driving without insurance, driving without registration and driving on a suspended license. He has been ordered held on $25,000 bond.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
