Lutheran School Week events begin at Immanuel
On Sunday, Immanuel Lutheran School in East Dundee joined Lutheran schools across the nation celebrating National Lutheran School Week. Lutherans across the nation are celebrating their schools and association to each other.
This year's national theme is "Securing Each Child's Future" and is based on a verse from the book of Jeremiah 29:11. In that verse God makes a promise to his people, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Normally, the students of Immanuel have a rigorous learning scheduled for the week. This week is a little different in that they will be celebrating their achievements and participating in some fun activities. During the week, children will be displaying their science and learning fair projects; dressing like twins; hosting a book fair; bowling; preparing for a talent show; and completing a service project around school. In addition, they are planning goofy deviations from the normal Immanuel uniform.
"I think the children look forward to wearing outfits that wouldn't normally be seen at school or, in the case of pajama day, not even out of the house," stated Principal Ken Becker.
The school is open to the public on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for parents interested in seeking admission for their children next year. Becker will be on hand to lead parents through the building as well as answer any questions about admissions. Immanuel supports pre-kindergarten to eighth grade and has openings for next year's classes.
Immanuel School accepts applications from students of any faith, race, national and ethnic origin. It is also a recognized school by the state of Illinois and North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. While going beyond academic excellence, Immanuel continues to offer students distinction in the area of fine arts and sports. Located on Route 72 and Van Buren in East Dundee, Immanuel is an easily accessible school for the area.
