For doctor, Oberweis best bet for future

As is true in many things in life, past performance is indicative of future returns. I believe this will be true in the decision facing us for who will be our new representative in the 14th U.S. House District.

Denny Hastert had a track record of earned respect from both sides of the aisle. He was a straight talker and we benefited from his representation of the Fox Valley these past years. Now he has stepped down and we are faced with a decision between Bill Foster and Jim Oberweis.

I have listened to what both candidates have to say on the issues. I have talked to people in the community. And I am asking you to join me in supporting Jim Oberweis on March 8.

I am more than dismayed by Foster's ads, which point out that Jim Oberweis calls for elimination of employer-based health care, something I have never heard Oberweis say. As a physician, I am concerned for my patients' access to health care. Oberweis does call for portability of health insurance and allowing people to join together to form groups which then can negotiate for better and more affordable health-care insurance from insurance carriers.

On his Web site, Foster states he wants a larger role for government in our health care. I don't want my health care run like the Secretary of State's Office. I want health care to run like the efficient, proactive, consumer-driven system we have now. Just help everyone be able to afford and keep health insurance when they move from job to job. Oberweis understands this and is prepared to act.

I have talked with more than a few of Oberweis' employees. He has created hundreds of jobs in Chicagoland by succeeding in the very difficult to navigate dairy business. I have heard nothing but sterling admiration of this man by his employees.

Stories are told about how he worked hard with unions to restructure his sales force compensation, which has enriched his dairy drivers, grown sales, created even more jobs and made everyone happy with the returns of his innovative solutions. We need someone who can find solutions that work. Oberweis has found workable solutions to difficult problems.

Watching Jim through multiple campaigns I realize he is a patient man who doesn't get deterred from his goal. I also realize he is a visionary who sees things more clearly and recognizes potential more than the average person.

I believe Oberweis is a man who we would be fortunate to serve us in Washington. He is well-equipped to be an outstanding congressman who will serve us all well. Please join me in supporting Jim Oberweis. His past performance has been outstanding and his potential for future performance is strong.
