Audition in Elgin for 'Nunsense II'

The Elgin Theatre Company has announced auditions for the musical comedy "Nunsense II: The Second Coming" by Dan Goggin.

Auditions will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., downtown Elgin.

Callbacks are by invitation only; prepare to dance and sing. It will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday.

"Nunsense II" will be directed by Kevin Wiczer of Wheeling, with choreography by Kara Williams of Palatine.

The cast of "Nunsense II" consists of five women ages 21 and older with lots of energy.

For the audition, prepare 32 bars of an upbeat song from the musical theater showing range, and cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals will be announced when parts have been assigned.

"Nunsense II: The Second Coming" is the sequel to the "Nunsense." The same five nuns are back on stage at Mt. Saint Helen's School for what is billed as a "Thank You Program" for their supporters.

Since their first time out was such a success, they have decided that they should stick to their variety show formula. This time they are forced to work around the set dressing of "The Mikado," which is being presented the following week by the Hoboken Music Society on the Mt. Saint Helen's stage.
