Briefs: Presidents visited Geneva
The Geneva History Center has a special exhibition, "The President is Coming," through today. Learn about the U.S. presidents who paid a call to Geneva. In addition, this exhibition will include rare photographs and campaign memorabilia, some dating back to the Civil War. The Geneva History Center is at 113 S. Panel addresses hunger
A coalition of Elgin-area religious leaders will meet Sunday to discuss solutions to the area's hunger problem. A Community Forum on Hunger will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at Judson University in the Lindner Commons dining hall, 1151 N. State St., Elgin, and will feature music, prayer and numerous community leaders, including David Sam, president of Elgin Community College, and Jerry Cain, president of Judson University. Learn massage therapy
Elgin Community College will host a massage therapy open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in Room 214 of the Advanced Technology Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Guests can view classroom facilities, examine textbooks equipment and meet instructors and current students. To reserve a spot, call the corporate and continuing education division at (847) 622-3036. Tax-prep help available
Waubonsee Community College provides tax-return preparation services for low- to moderate-income people as part of the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Tax assistance sessions are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Aurora campus, 5 E. Galena Blvd. Families with incomes of less than $40,000 are eligible for assistance, as are individuals with incomes of less than $15,000. People seeking tax help should bring a copy of their 2006 tax return (if they have one) W-2 forms and 1099s from all 2007 jobs, Social Security cards for all family members and a photo ID.
