Montini finishes 3rd in state
This time the shots fell, and the Montini girls basketball players wore smiles on their faces.
The Broncos (28-6) bounced back from Friday's semifinal disappointment to win Saturday morning's Class 3A third-place game 50-35 against Quincy Notre Dame at Redbird Arena in Normal.
The players celebrated on the court at the final buzzer.
The Broncos shot 52 percent from the field Saturday after making just more than 20 percent Friday.
Sophomore center Michala Johnson got her second straight double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
