Montini teacher charged with battery following incident with student
A music teacher at Montini Catholic High School was charged with battery in connection with an episode last week involving a student, authorities said Thursday.
Robert W. Johnson, 44, of 8137 Ripple Ridge Drive, Darien, "inappropriately touched" a student during a class on Feb. 19, said Dawn Domrose, DuPage County sheriff's spokeswoman.
She would not elaborate.
Attorney Michael Devine, who represents Montini, said the student is boy and the school investigated the incident as soon as it was reported.
Johnson was in his fifth year at Montini, near Lombard, but "is no longer with the school as of some date last week," Devine said.
The student was not injured, he said, and it was the first "allegation of its type" involving the teacher at Montini.
Johnson remains in the DuPage County jail on a $5,000 bond. His next scheduled court date is March 27.
