Geneva High tightens security
Extra security will be in place at Geneva High School Friday, as administrators respond to a threat received Thursday of possible violence at the school.
Students will only be allowed to enter and exit through the main entrance on McKinley Avenue.
They will not be allowed to bring backpacks, purses or bags into the school. If they are brought, Geneva police will search them, and the bags will be checked into the main office for retrieval at the end of the day.
Students won't be able to go off-campus for lunch. Those who attend the Fox Valley Career Center or other off-campus programs will have to stay on campus. Movement through the halls during classtimes will be restricted to students with red or gold passes from the dean's office.
Students were notified of the situation in announcements Thursday afternoon, and were given letters to give to their parents. The district's e-mail notification system was also used, and notices are being posted on the school and district Web sites.
