After AFLA, SOAP, we need STORC

A few weeks ago, I read that a new group, Speak Out Against Prejudice (SOAP), was forming. I was truly insulted by this, but I was unable to respond because I was preparing to go on vacation.

Since I have returned, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Many people responded with letters of their own.

Being against illegal immigration has nothing to do with being prejudiced. It's about supporting the law. Hispanics are not the only ones coming in illegally. Their are people of Polish, Russian, Jamaican and East Indian descent, to name a few. So how is this being prejudiced?

What is a shame is that because some are so quick to throw the race card that people are afraid to speak up and subjected to quietly sending e-mails to voice their concerns. That's intimidation!

I submitted a letter a while back about illegal immigration and a co-worker of mine ask me if I was afraid that I might become a victim of retribution. My response was "No, this is my country and I have the right to expect everyone to live by the same laws that I and my family live by."

I am not a prejudiced person and I challenge anyone to prove me different. I am proud that my mother taught me at a young age to judge the person by the person not the 10 pounds of skin that covers them.

Maybe it's time a new group called S.T.O.R.C. (Stop Throwing Out Race Card) should start. It is time for people to stop being afraid to speak up, our politicians to enforce our laws and illegal immigrants to respect our laws. These special privileges for people breaking the law have to stop and we Americans have the right to expect our government to protect us from people breaking our laws.

People have the right to not be subjected to scare tactics. Do not call me prejudiced! And for the record, my vacation spot was Mexico.
