A chilly showcase proved warm spirit

Events like the recent Community Showcase, which attracted an audience of almost 500 on a bitter cold day show that the spirit of Huntley is alive and well.

The directors of the Education Foundation for Huntley Area Schools would like to thank the 130 members of the community who came together for our inaugural showcase to display their talents and raise almost $5,000 for grants and scholarship benefiting our students.

Special thanks belong to director Kim Skaja, organizers Niki Burkey, Angela Green, Sharon Lackey, Michele Gentry, Leigh Ann Porsch, Rita McMahon, Eileen Delahanty and Amy Williams-Johnson.

Members of the District 158 administration, teachers and staff volunteered their time to make the event successful. We hope to make this an annual event.

It is a win/win afternoon when we get to share great local talent, have an ice cream social and raise money for our kids' education.
